Here is a simple and beautiful edge grain cutting board using cuttingboard staple hardwoods of Maple, Cherry, and Walnut.
 
This cutting board features a walnut butterfly bowtie for a nice contrast in grain direction and asthetics. As with all my cuttingboards this is sanded from 80-220 grit for a smooth to the touch feel and finished in food safe mineral oil and beezwax to bring out the woods natrual beauty and provide as a conditioning effect so the wood doesn't dry out.
